Fist
Fist (👊) (weapon)
One may use one's fist(s) in a melee combat situation.
The fist strike may be used by any capable creature or character with an arm or limb and that can make a fist, but not at full power unless trained.
👊 Attack:
- Fist: [dPower] + [(d)Muscle] + 9 [or d8+1] (half/training)
A fist strike at maximum strength costs 9 mana to perform (even if the user is not a magic wielder in the common sense), but this full-power attack is not possible for untrained individuals.
A trained attacker that is capable of the full-power fist strike can choose to spend less mana and perform a reduced-power version of the attack.
The striking attack named fist is a powerful energy-channeling natural attack, more powerful than a simple punch. In the East it would be described as strike wielding the power of chi.
Thus, a fighter trained to the level of 'masterful' in unarmed combat deals at least 9 damage with a single accurate fist strike (or the result of a d8+1 if using dynamic rolls), and expends 9 mana in doing so. This damage value is added to the sum of the base dice roll and the relevant vital, in this case (d)Muscle, giving the final result of the offensive essay. Since combat usually makes use of opposed rolls, the target of the fist attack then performs it's defensive action, and the result of the initial attack minus the total of the defense roll is the final damage dealt.
If not sufficiently trained, the combatant deals half damage (4 points, rounding down, or 5 points rounding up), In this case the strike still counts as an advanced energy-channeling attack that the character must strive to achieve. It is not a simple thoughtless mundane jab (which would be modeled purely by a base dice roll added to the characters' Muscle vital.
Again, if play involves a base dice (as most game types do), then when making such an attack, the damage value listed above is added to one's power roll result, and relevant vital statistic, in this case (Muscle), along with any other relevant bonuses. The damage value of 9 for fist is considered the baseline damage potential. The final damage result depends additionally upon the power roll and other circumstantial bonuses, offset by the success level of the targets attempt at defending itself. Thus an actual fist strike might result in more or less damage than the listed value of 9 for a full power attack.
Example strikes:
Fist: ( F.S.T ) = 6+1+2 = 9 -- [no magic or charm]
Fist: ( F.I.S.T ) = 6+9+1+2 = 18 | 9
Fist: ( F.I.S.T ) = 6+9+10+2 = 27
Fist: ( F.I.S.T ) = 6+9+19+20 = 54
F.I.S.T = 6,9,19,20 totaling 54
F.I.S.T = 6,9,10,2 totaling 27
F.I.S.T = 6,9,1,2 totaling 18
