Bokwus

The BOKWUS (Bokwús) is a greatly feared fae spirit of the spruce forests, found particularly in the east and south-east of the Mountains of Wisdom. They prefer the densest groves where they dart about, peeking out from behind the tree-trunks, and spying on the surrounding lands from the dappled shadows.

These mysterious entities, the size of a small man, appear to adorn themselves with rough face-paints, and a number of totemic designs have been confirmed by those that have witnessed or confronted them. Aside from the bright colours of their facial decoration, the rest of their bodies are very difficult to see, some claiming that the lower half of their bodies become increasingly transparent and their feet being almost invisible.

These creatures are shy and are unlikely to make brave frontal attacks - however they are known to be wantonly malicious, and prefer to ambush those navigating or fishing near watercourses, where they maneuver stealthily to push invaders into the icy waters.

It is not known what they eat, or how they otherwise sustain themselves. There are reports that the Bokwús retrieve the bodies of those they succeed in drowning in a river, and take them back to their forest hideaways for who knows what purpose.

If slain they collapse or crumble into a pile of what seems to be loamy soil.

It is not known if any friendly interactions have ever been recorded, or if the Bokwús speak an intelligible language.
