The Tumbled Bridge of Daevaḥa Leap Creek

The vales of the foothills of the Mountains of Wisdom are watered by many fast-running streams and tributaries that run down from the snow-capped high places of the summits.

The illustration shows a small masonry bridge that once crossed one of these rivers in the southern parts of the mountain range within the Crown Vales, that not long ago was washed away by floodwaters. This particular valley houses the tributary known as the Daevaḥa (a name that some truncate to Daeva), and this section of the river with it's many small waterfalls is known as The Leap, or Daeva Leap, and more fully, Daevaḥa's Leap. This creek (which becomes a deep gorge at it's upper levels) is not often travelled, due to the availability of less grueling paths through these highlands, and Lord Yberön's wayfinders and road-inspection teams have not yet discovered the loss of this bridge. The road network of Fairyland is generally maintained rather well, but things have slipped somewhat since Yberön engaged the elven hosts more directly in mortal affairs in 2023 AD, by request of Tsrif the Pixie. There is a medium-sized lake above the falls (as seen in the top-left of the image. It is home to a small population of flesh-eating gators - however they don't grow particularly large here, due to the limited size of their range.

Flying azhdarka are known to hunt for fish in this location. Fairy lore tells that some of the first of these creatures to be tamed by the Azarim were captured here.
