Defining A Creature
For the Master of Ceremonies
As per the lore of manifestation in Fairyland, ponder the 'Lion'. The Lion is minimally described in the the foundational grimoire known as the Associative Map (amongst other titles, but more often called simply, the The Spellbook, or the Dictionary):
Lion (n): A very large carnivorous mammal (Felix leo). Yellowish brown or tawny, with a long mane in the adult male.
That is arguably almost enough of a description in terms of our needs to provide challenging fauna and flora for the players travelling the wildlands. Of course it could do with some embellishment, but it's a good start.
What about it's vital statistics? What of a Fairy Lion's M'moatia?
The first letter of a creatures name (that is, it's 'outer-most' property) is usually interpreted as either it's Sinew (dexterity) or Muscle (strength). If the 'L' of 'Lion' is Sinew (the default, for finesse is preferred over brute force), then the second letter 'I' relates to the Muscle value. A Lion thus has the 'L' and 'I' in it's name having the values of [12|3] and [9|9]. Thus the typical lion in Fairyland, in the basic (most simple) game, has a Sinew of 3 and Muscle of 9. Quite reasonable (although the muscle strength of 9 is very high and thus the typical Fairy Lion is very strong indeed, and might be said to be sublime or divine).
